Paranormal Activity 2 DVD

Scary movies strike fear in me cuz I get really into them. In my ever so humble opinion that's the whole point of movies. To allow yourself to be taken into a world created by someone else and follow their rules. Rules like, it's completely normal for characters to break into song, or vampires really do exist. It's our sub-conscience in the backseat driver position that causes us to experience the emotion. So, yeah, scary movie equals me terrified.
When I see a baby in a scary movie, I always say, "if they do anything to the baby, I'm turning off the movie." My husband thinks I'm ridiculous. Well, he sleeps like an angel meanwhile I'm laying there in a panic that something horrible is about to happen to my kids down the hall. Yeah, I know, I'm ridiculous. (Don't tell my husband he's right.) So, when Paranormal Activity 2 opens with newborn's homecoming, I looked and my husband, and he knew what I was thinking. Right off the bat I was hooked.
I begged him to sit next to me as we searched each screen for movement. Hours turned into days, turned into weeks, and we watched as NOTHING HAPPENED. I feel so duped now looking back. As my husband always says, he could have made that movie. And, yet, I liked it. When the scary stuff does start to happen, it's thrilling. It's like watching pranks on youtube, and if you've never done that DUDE, you should totally watch some of those.

Tangled (DVD Momma goes to the actual movie theater)

It had been years since I went to a movie theater. When I lived in California (oh sunny, warm California) I went to the movies atleast once a month. Then, I considered that I didn't get out enough. So, now that I have children, no near relation to babysit, and moved to Smalltown, USA, my theater going life has basically vanished. NO LONGER, I DECLARE. Since my oldest has turned 5 years old, I bravely attempted to take her to the local old skool 40 seat movie theater in town to see Tangled.
I love Disney movies. I watch Beauty and the Beast on VHS as many times as my 5 year old and husband can stand it. I really need to get it on DVD before my VHS player dies. I was raised with having ultimate respect of musicals and cartoons so it is one of my all time favs. That said, Tangled ranks a good second to my fav. I will definitely purchase the DVD... for my kids. And, I'm sure they will love to watch it with me fifty bazillion times.

Justified Season 1 DVD

I might be biased because I adore Timothy Olyphant, but I love this show. I know that Tarantino admires Elmore Leonard. But, regular people don't know who Leonard is, and that's their problem. So, for the people who just know Tarantino's style, think a modern Tarantino western for tv. Yes, I'm well aware that it's not a western, and no, I'm not saying it's because he wears a cowboy hat. It's a western in how it is shot/filmed and the dialouge. It's really slow and deliberate, not campy. I hope that the next season will keep that same quality. And, thanks for keeping Boyd.

DEXTER Season 4 DVD

I can't believe they killed her off. If you don't want to know, don't read any further. I'll say it again, I can't believe they killed her off! I pride myself on being able to see all the foreshadowing and seeing what's going to happen next in a plot line. My husband and I will discuss what we think will happen next and I'm usually right. Not that I enjoy an easily deciphered plot. No, I love being wrong. I enjoy the suspense as much as anybody. I get tingly when I'm right. I get just as tingly when I'm wrong. If I can blatantly see the punch that's the only time I get pissed... or so I thought.
This season of Dexter had me sitting on the edge of my seat most of the time gripping the little pillows on my couch begging my husband to sit next to me. I'm totally terrified of John Lithgow due to a series of nightmares after watching him in Raising Cain as a kid. Later he would win me back with his character in 3rd Rock From the Sun. Still, I know what he is capable of so, I was prepared. And, terrified. He is so excellent.
The relationship status of Deb is something I can see coming. She is damaged goods, as she says. So, I knew her happy days were numbered. Enter Lundy. Exit Lundy. One character down.
I will skip over all the rest, because the show is great, the actors are great. I don't care to waste time telling you other plotlines. Watch the show. I will only make quick mention the addition of Quinn, and his charater arc being wonderful.
Now, back to my original rant. I can't believe they killed her. My heart breaks everytime I think of it. Dexter ties up all the loose ends and comes home to pack only to find that he didn't kill Trinity soon enough. Trinity killed Rita in the bath. I wasn't sure even when the phone rang, even when I saw the pool of blood, it didn't occur to me that it was really happening. Ah! My heart dropped, I was instantly choking a sob, and I was so surprised. SO SURPRISED. Hats off to the writers. I tried to think of every which way that Rita's death might have been avoided and I should have seen that coming. Ah! So awful. I am so sad. Farewell lovely Rita.
